Steven Tyler sadly is back in rehab ....

Reuters news agency has sadly tonight confirmed that Steven Tyler is indeed back in rehab, after seemingly being back on the right track with his band mates in Aerosmith ...

Tyler, 61, said in a statement to People magazine that he was receiving treatment at an undisclosed facility for pain management and an addiction to prescription painkillers resulting from 10 years of performance injuries.

"With the help of my family and team of medical professionals, I am taking responsibility for the management of my pain and am eager to be back on the stage and in the recording studio with my band mates," he said.

A hugely publicised bust up with band members after his "falling off stage" incident, during the start of their double header summer US tour with southern boogie rockers ZZ Top which was then subsequently cancelled, spread all over news outlets around the globe, when he broke his shoulder.
Various band members including long time friend Joe Perry, claimed that Tyler could not be reached and he wouldn't answer or return phonecalls.

Tyler claimed that his reason for being out of contact with band mates was that he needed some "Tyler time."
Since then Tyler has recently got up onstage with Aerosmith guitarist's, side band the Joe Perry Project.

Status Quo to play "Rock 4 Life" festival in Inverness, Scotland May 2010.

Britain's best-loved rockers Status Quo will perform at 2010's first major concert of the year in the Highlands. Caledonian Productions Ltd will host the event in Inverness on 1 May 2010.
Crowds of 20,000 will attend on each day of the two-day festival at Bogbain Farm, on the outskirts of the Highland capital,

And they can expect a surprise the next day with another great name to be announced for the second night.
Tobias Leask, director of Caledonian Productions, said: "This will be the biggest day in the Highlands for years.
"To have Status Quo coming here is amazing - and it's all in aid of a great cause."
Cash raised at the event will go towards Highlands Hospice, who care for hundreds of people each year.
Tobias said: "We believe this will be the biggest open air concert in the Highlands.
"This will be the first of its kind in the Highlands. It will be a fantastic event, which will continue for years to come, raising cash for a host of local charities."

Status Quo are still hugely in demand act, and are a live music institution.
Their last album "Pictures: 40 Years Of Hits" sold over quarter of a million copies in the UK alone last year and was accordingly been certified Gold.
The band can't wait to perform for the fans that helped them reach this milestone.
The "Pictures" album became the band's 37th chart album and also their 29th to reach the Top Twenty - and that statistic puts them ahead of The Beatles.

Quo now stand in the silver medal position on the all-time table [with only those Rolling Stones ahead of them].
The show in Inverness represents a great opportunity to witness one of the world's greatest ever live acts doing what they do best.
Francis Rossi commented: "Playing to our fans is still and has always been the most important thing for the band. "Nothing beats playing live and we always look forward to performing to a lively Scottish crowd".
Britain's greatest rock n roll band are still going strong - don't bet against them celebrating their 50th anniversary in 2015!

Tickets go on sale at 9am on 18 December 2009 and are available online at www.iristickets.co.uk or can be bought locally. Tickets are priced from £45 [booking fees may apply].

Tickets for the first day of the festival are £45, with the second day £55. A two-day ticket will cost £90.

Rumours are doing the rounds that the Sunday night will be headlined by Canadian rocker Bryan Adams but it's still to be confirmed.

Richard Marx, slight update ...

So really, am I one of the 'few' rock fans who admits to admiring this guys talent?
I caught his show live in Detroit probably about 5 years or so back now and have to say, he's a great live act as well as a very smart and strong writer / musician.

Back in November on his website Richard Marx posted a note to say he'd co-written a new song with Ringo Starr.
” I had so much fun doing that tour with Ringo in ‘06, and we’ve stayed in touch quite a bit, so last winter he asked me over to his house in LA to write a song with him. It was a track he’d already come up with and I liked it and started writing a melody to it on the spot, and then we wrote the lyrics together within an hour or so. The song’s called, “Mystery of the Night.”

Marx himself has been out on the road doing some low key Duo gigs with Matt Scannell and will doing more in the New Year, as well as a few band shows. Check out the tour dates on his site here:

Ronnie Wood ..., not looking so good!

It seems Rolling Stones guitar slinger Ronnie Wood is in the news again for all the wrong reasons, again!
Following an incident earlier this month where UK Police arrested him on suspicion of assault near his southern England home, it seems the Police have now issued a formal warning for "common assault," to Wood to watch himself.
The incident - violent arguement - between Wood and his 21-year-old on-off girlfriend Ekaterina Ivanovawas seen by a passer by who dialled 999 immediately.

Can you help John Mellencamp stop smoking?

How sad is this story then?
I just happened to stop by John Mellencamp's website for I must say, is the first time in quite a while and I saw this story / piece posted there, from just a week back, which is in fact for a cause started by his son, Speck:

A Call to Action to All Mellencamp Fans! YOU Can Help John Stop Smoking!
Last week word spread that John's teenage son Speck had created a Facebook group stating that if 1,000,000 people became members his Dad, John Mellencamp, would quit his life-long smoking habit. The story spread as it caught the attention of fans and media worldwide. The group has nearly 200,000 members already and continues to grow but we need your help!
Here are two easy ways you can help add to the goal:

1. Post the LINK to the group and talk about it on your own personal facebook/twitter/blog -
2. Directly invite or challenge a few of your friends and family to sign up.

Let’s help Speck achieve his goal of a healthier Dad! If each of us reaches out to a few people the number can really increase!

Scorpion Rudolf Schenker coming to America ..., briefly, then onto South America!

It seems the Scorpions guitarist is having fun with his hobby, rally driving as he heads to Antofagasta, Chile for some off road driving, stopping just briefly in L.A.
Here's the scoop from the Scorpions website: http://www.the-scorpions.com/english/

Rudolf Schenker will be spending Christmas in Los Angeles –though ‘only’ as a mere stopover on an adventurous trip. "It’s unreal," says Rudolf, "I will be accompanying the rally in an Amorak –a brand new pick-up from Volkswagen. On the rest days I will have the opportunity to test the car on the dusty roads of Chile."
In January, the Dakar Rally will be crossing the borders of Argentina and Chile rigorously. Rudolf Schenker will join the race in Antofagasta, Chile. At the same time, the producers of the new upcoming Scorpions album will be sweating in their snug studio in Sweden and working on the end-mix. However, thanks to the newest technologies, Rudolf will be in constant virtual contact with them, in order to control the final mixes from abroad. So why the Dakar trip? Rudolf just recently preached in his book "Rock Your Life," "you have to see life as an adventure. Accept any challenge. And have fun doing it."
