True rock legends such as UFO are characterized not only by the fact that they have added several classic anthems to the annals of rock history, but that their musical output, after many years, still remains at such a consistently high level and they always have something new and fresh coming up. With classic albums behind them such as "Phenomenon", "Force it" and "No Heavy Pettin," Phil Mogg, Vinnie Moore, Andy Parker and Paul Raymond still sound vital and imaginative to this day.

UFO's global breakthrough came when German guitarist, Michael Schenker, joined the fold in 1973, having left his band the Scorpions to accept an offer from Phil Mogg and Pete Way. UFO released three consecutive rock classics with Schenker ("Phenomenon" (1974), "Force It" (1975) and "No Heavy Pettin'" (1976)), featuring classics such as: 'Doctor Doctor', 'Shoot, Shoot', and 'Rock Bottom'. Following the arrival of keyboardist/rhythm guitarist Paul Raymond, UFO released the albums "Lights Out" (1977) and "Obsession" (1978), which included the hit singles 'Too Hot To Handle', 'Lights Out' and 'Only You Can Rock Me'. Their live release "Strangers In The Night" came out in 1979 and is still considered to be one of the best live releases of all time, unfortunately, this also brought about the end of the Mogg, Way, Schenker, Parker and Raymond line-up.

The reorganized band underwent fifteen years marked by various eras and numerous line-up changes.
To everyone's surprise, autumn 1993 saw the return of the former UFO line-up consisting of Mogg, Way, Schenker, Parker and Raymond. This new edition of the classic team released the album "Walk On Water", their first joint effort after in over fifteen years and they embarked on a world tour. However, Schenker left UFO again during the "Walk On Water" tour to continue working with his own group, MSG, while Mogg and Way went on to release their second album, Chocolate Box.
The UFO album's, "Covenant" and "Sharks", recorded by Mogg, Way and Schenker, arrived at the stores in 2000 and 2002 respectively. Vinnie Moore soon joined the band and recorded songs for the new album "You Are Here" which also featured Jason Bonham taking over the drumming duties.
During the subsequent world tour, UFO recorded a show in Germany, which was later released as the live album, "Showtime", as well as a DVD featuring additional bonus material. In 2006 Jason Bonham left UFO to join Foreigner and was replaced by UFO's original drummer, Andy Parker for their release "The Monkey Puzzle" In 2009 UFO released the critically acclaimed album "The Visitor".

DOUBLE-LP VINYL VERSION OF 'DIO AT DONINGTON UK: LIVE 1983 AND 1987' TO BE ISSUED BY NIJI ENTERTAINMENT GROUP ON FEBRUARY 15TH

CD VERSION'S SUCCESS DIO'S STRONGEST CHART DEBUT IN THE "SOUNDSCAN" ERA"

The recently-released double-disc Dio CD, 'Dio at Donington UK: Live 1983 & 1987,' is about to get a glorious vinyl makeover. On February 15, 2011, the album will be issued as a double vinyl set with deluxe gatefold packaging, and on 180 gram vinyl - the first-ever Dio album to be released in this high quality vinyl format. The album was mixed and mastered under the supervision of Dio's longtime engineer, Wyn Davis, and comes hot on the heels of the CD version's success (debuting at #98 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart - Dio's strongest chart debut in the "Soundscan era").

The first disc of 'Dio at Donington UK: Live 1983 & 1987' was recorded at the first-ever UK performance by Dio's solo group (while on tour supporting their classic debut, 'Holy Diver'), and features guitarist Vivian Campbell. The set-list does a superb job reflecting Dio's debut (featuring such classics as "Rainbow in the Dark," "Stand Up And Shout," etc.), as well as classics from both Rainbow and Black Sabbath ("Man on the Silver Mountain," "Heaven and Hell," etc.) - resulting in a thorough retrospective of Dio's career, from Rainbow to Black Sabbath to solo hits. The second disc of 'Dio at Donington UK: Live 1983 & 1987' features guitarist Craig Goldy's debut - recorded in 1987, in support of the 'Dream Evil' album, and contains further highlights from Dio's career.

Between Facebook, Myspace and Twitter, the Dio social media followers now number over one million. The CD version of 'Dio at Donington' has scanned over 43,000 in the the USA alone, and in the Sounscan era, Dio has scanned over 3,000,000 albums. 'The Very Beast Of Dio' was recently certified Gold in the USA, and sales are approaching 700,000 units. Also recently opened for business is the Official Dio Webstore, which gives fans worldwide the opportunity to purchase t-shirts, limited edition items, and CD's/DVD's that fans have been requesting.

2011 is shaping up to be a busy shopping year for Dio collectors, so stay tuned!

AOR HEAVEN ANNOUNCES 'BIG LIFE' PROJECT FEAT. EX-PRAYING MANTIS VOCALIST AND NEWMAN MAINMAN

Big Life - Big Life / Release date: 29.04.2011 - Big Life is a new project featuring the immense talents of the UK's melodic rock genius, Steve Newman (Newman) and ex-Praying Mantis frontman, Mark Thompson-Smith.

Steve Newman's reputation in the Melodic Rock circuit is impressive - with eight immense Newman albums released in the last decade, the latest being the highly acclaimed The Art Of Balance. Add to this his work on other albums with artists such as Atlantic, Steve Overland, Eden, AOR Project, Frozen Rain, Far Cry, Grand Illusion and Tom Galley's Phenomena project.

Mark Thompson-Smith re-emerges from the shadows after a lengthy period out of the limelight to more than demonstrate that time has not dulled his impressive vocal powers. Best known as the singer with Praying Mantis in the early 90's and as guest vocalist in The Sweet in 2005, he has also featured as frontman for various 80's UK bands such as Idol Rich, Touche and Flight 19.

The early 90's also saw Mark working in America with Mike Walsh (Departure) and legendary keyboardist Dave Rosenthal (Rainbow/Red Dawn/Billy Joel/Infinity), spending two exciting years performing and recording the later released and now much sought after solo album, A Far Cry From New Jersey.

Returning to the UK in 1993, as the grunge band tsunami swept away the US melodic rock scene, Mark joined Praying Mantis recording the impressive “Only The Children Cry” EP and completed a successful tour of Japan before leaving the band in 1994. During the years, he appeared a couple of times as backing vocalist on various Newman albums. The Sweet experience being short lived as the band required a bass playing vocalist, it fired up Mark's renewed passion for singing further and so he sought out Steve Newman to embark on a brand new musical adventure....and certainly found it in Big Life!

The guys are joined by Rob McEwen, the outstanding drumming talent on the last three Newman albums, and all recordings have once again taken place at “The Blue Room” studios in England.
