Frontiers Records to release “Dio”, JORN’s offer to the musical legacy of the great singer

Napoli, May 2010 - The Norse God of Metal. The leader of the renaissance of classic Hard Rock on its highest level. One of the most prolific and sought-after singers of today, whose vocal talent has reserved him a place amongst the greatest giants in the history of Rock. This is Jorn Lande and now he offers his talents to honour the musical legacy of Ronnie James Dio, with his new album aptly entitled “Dio”, to be released on Frontiers Records on July 2nd in Europe and July 27th in the US.

Handpicking some lesser known tunes of the Dio era, along with some of the true classics, Jorn offers a fine collection of songs that present the music of the Man and the Artist, with a unique twist. In Jorn Lande’s own words: “Throughout the years I have had the privilege of both meeting and working with many of the musicians that have inspired me on my musical journey. Ronnie James Dio has inspired me through decades, and this man's influence continues to add colour to my creative spirit. Ever since the first time I heard his royal roar back in the 70's, I have been fascinated by this extremely talented man's creative force and dedication to music. His career has been going on for so long and includes so many great songs, that it was a challenge to decide which songs and what era to focus on. I ended up focusing on the DIO era”.

The album also includes an original song for which a videoclip, shot by Thomas Tjader (Pretty Maids, In Flames) was produced. Jorn says “I wrote 'Song for Ronnie James' as a tribute and a personal thanks to the man who has been my mentor for more than 35 years. This great man has affected my life and career in such a way that without his presence, I would not have become the artist I am today”.

The “Song for Ronnie James” videoclip can be watched on Youtube:

Either as front man in German metal act Masterplan, which has achieved great success around the world, or as guest in spectacular projects such as Tobias Sammet’s “Avantasia”, or in the Allen / Lande’s releases, Jorn Lande is today a trademark for quality Hard Rock music. “Dio” is the new chapter in Jorn’s history and a sincere and heartfelt “thank you” to a great and influential Artist.

“Dio” was mixed by Tommy Hansen, Jailhouse Studios, and the final tracklisting includes the following tracks: Song For Ronnie James; Invisible; Shame on the Night; Push; Stand Up And Shout; Don't Talk to Strangers; Lord Of The Last Day; Night People; Sacred Heart; Sunset Superman; Lonely Is The Word / Letters From Earth (2010 version); Kill The King*; Straight Through The Heart (live). The Rolling Stones 1969-1974 - The Mick Taylor Years Coming to DVD on July 27
The story behind The Stones' finest era...

Often regarded as the period in which The Rolling Stones recorded the finest music of their career, the years during which Mick Taylor was the fifth Stone remain the band's 'Golden Age'. Notably, on albums Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers and Exile On Main Street the Stones' sound changed as they developed new ideas and were informed by a range of new influences. But crucially it was Taylor's sophisticated blues and jazz licks that gave The Rolling Stones an added dimension between 1969 and 1974 - one they lacked both before and afterwards. This dynamic film tells the behind the scenes story of this hugely productive era for the group.

Featuring interviews with Taylor himself and further contributions from his old boss, John Mayall; author and group colleague, Robert Greenfield; Village Voice music editor, Robert Christgau; Stones session musicians, Al Perkins and Bill Plummer; highly regarded UK music critic, Barney Hoskyns and many others. The program also includes liberal performance footage of The Stones, archive footage and interviews, numerous seldom seen photographs and a host of other features.

Extras include:
- 'Meet Mick' - John Mayall and music historian Alan Clayson tell the Mick Taylor story, prior to his entry into The Rolling Stones.
- Contributor Biographies

Dweezil Zappa: “Van Halen played me some new stuff from his record”

Friday, 21 May 2010 Eddie Van Halen hasn’t talked to the press in a while, but one of his his friends has - Dweezil Zappa told Glide Magazine that he has been hanging with his old friend Eddie Van Halen recently, and that Eddie played him some of his “new stuff from his record”!
These snippets from the interview ... Posted at Van Halen's News Desk:

Glide Magazine: How did growing up around your father and the countless amazing musicians he employed change the course of your musical development?

Dweezil Zappa: The thing is, I could always tell that what my dad did was on a different level than other music that I heard, so I always had this sense of, you know, “I could never do that.” So the music that got me inspired to play guitar was different from my dad’s music. My first biggest influences were Randy Rhoads and Eddie Van Halen. I never got to meet Randy Rhoads, but I did get to meet Eddie Van Halen. So seeing how he did things up close really changed my abilities quickly, because when you can see how somebody does something up close, if you’re the type of person that’s going to spend some time practicing, it’s like I had all these images that were burned into my mind forever that started that whole thing.
It’s kind of funny, because I’ve recently been spending some time with Eddie Van Halen after being out of touch for a while. He was playing me some new stuff from his record, and I was playing him some stuff that I had been working on for this project, you know, playing Frank’s music. He actually came to the Jeff Beck show the other day too. [Dweezil is talking about the recent LA show on 4/17/10 when he opened for Jeff Beck - VHND] But one thing that was actually a pivotal and hilarious thing to me was that I was showing him some stuff, these different ways I had worked out to play quintuplets, and he said “Uh, you lost me there. I don’t even know what you’re talking about. Who would have thought after all these years, you’d be giving me a guitar lesson.” To me, that was hilarious because I couldn’t have envisioned that myself, and also the flipside of him coming to a show of mine when I had been to so many of his. There he was, in the dressing room before we went on, and we saw him after the show and everything, and it’s just such a role reversal. But it’s definitely a strong and good memory for me because I think it would have to be really be rare for anybody to have the ability to have that kind of communication with the thing or the person that inspired you so much to begin with, and have this mentor type of relationship and have some common ground in a different way after all these years. It is a unique and cool experience to have.

CELEBRITY APPRENTICE FINALIST, BRET MICHAELS, BACK IN HOSPITAL AFTER SUFFERING WARNING STROKE KNOWN AS A TRANSIENT ISCHEMIC ATTACK (TIA)
CELEBRITY APPRENTICE FINALIST, BRET MICHAELS, BACK IN HOSPITAL AFTER SUFFERING WARNING STROKE KNOWN AS A TRANSIENT ISCHEMIC ATTACK (TIA)
RECEIVES DEVASTATING NEWS AS TESTS SHOW HE HAS A HOLE IN HIS HEART OR PATENT FORAMEN OVALE (PFO)

Bret Michaels was readmitted to the hospital this week after suffering numbness on the left side of his body, predominately his face and hands which doctors described as a Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA) or warning stroke. While MRI and CT scan tests were being conducted, Michaels also received a Doppler Ultrasound of his legs and lower abdomen looking for blood clots and most importantly an Ultrasound Bubble Test of his heart was conducted which proved positive for a Patent Forum Ovale (PFO), a hole in the heart. Dr. Zabramski (Bret's neurosurgeon), Dr. Becker (who ordered the test), Dr. Cook (who conducted the test) and Dr. Frey (Director, Outpatient Stroke Program) all confirmed the results.

Dr. Zabramski states "There is no doubt that the positive Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO) is devastating news to Bret and his family. The good news is that it is operable and treatable and we think we may have diagnosed the problem that caused the Transient Ischemic Attach (TIA) or warning stroke; however we feel it is highly unlikely this is connected to the brain hemorrhage he suffered just a few weeks earlier. Once again it is great that he quickly reacted to the severe numbness and got to the hospital immediately."

Dr. Zabramski continues, "I realize Bret wants to make a full recovery so that he can be active with his family, attempt to attend the finale of Celebrity Apprentice and especially get back on the road to continue making music. Without a doubt he is very determined to get healthy and make a 100% recovery. Medically speaking it is a fantastic attitude both mentally and physically for him to have. However, Bret's brain and body are not quite 100% yet, especially with the hole found in his heart. Further tests will be conducted throughout the week and I will have more information next week as to how this Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO) will be treated. For now, Bret will be treated with outpatient care which includes a daily injection of Lovenox (a blood thinner to reduce the chance of blood clots) and blood tests."

Bret's rep, Janna Elias, states "Bret wants everyone to know he cannot thank you enough for all of the well wishes, prayers, and good vibes you have sent his way. Even though these last few months have been tough on him and his family, especially this most recent setback, he is in good spirits, great medical hands and is positive and hopeful that everything is going to be OK. He is up, walking, talking, continuing his daily rehab and very happy to be alive but he has made it clear he is sick and tired of being in the hospital and is ready to rock again."

Roger Glover (Deep Purple) Update From The Road
Brief update from the road from Deep Purple's bassist Roger Glover.

'The tour is going really well so far. It was probably the best Australian tour we've ever done. The audiences get younger every time, and they know how to rock!

The Asian section of the tour is also superb, a lovely welcome wherever we go. It was especially good to play in Taipei, somewhere that we've never been before (and there's not many places like that left-we are very lucky).
The band is really enjoying playing and every night on stage is an adventure and a joy.
Thank you and good luck,
RG'

Melodicrock.com launches Melodicrock Records

Andrew McNiece the man behind the website http://www.melodicrock.com/ has a bunch of new releases lined up as well as the announcement of his websites' own record label. Read on ...

Time to update folks about a few things going on behind the scenes at MelodicRock.com. I'm talking about plans for MRCD7, 8 and 9 plus MRDVD1 & 2!

Artist submissions for MRCD7 are due in by June 30 at the very latest. To check or availability and compilations details - contact me now. MRCD7 will follow the path of MRCD5 and be a Double CD set of new and upcoming Melodic Rock highlights, plus a few rare and unreleased gems from the past. And it will feature the longest track ever to make a MR compilation, with one epic tune clocking in over 9 minutes in length. A few surprises in store as usual.

MRCD8 will be another Double CD set - going back to the concept of MRCD4 - the best melodic rock songs ever. Except this time I'm going to cram 30+ of the best melodic rock ballads ever onto one compilation. Really looking forward to working on this. If any artist has a killer ballad they think might fit the compilation - e-mail now.

MRCD9 will fill a long requested void in the MRCD series - an all metal compilation! Again, interested parties can e-mail now for details.

MRDVD1 will feature a disc of new and recent MR videos that have been filmed to promote various albums. It will incude a 2nd DVD with some behind the scenes footage and extras from MelodicRockFest1. If you have a video clip of live footage you would like to have featured on the DVD, please e-mail now.

MRDVD2 will follow the same path of DVD1 and will feature a bonus disc of fan footage and pictures from MelodicRockFest2.

All the above titles are underway and will be released over the course of 2010, starting in August with MRCD7 and MRDVD1.

I am also excited to announce the formation of MelodicRockRecords. It is about time this site had its own record label, but this won't be on any grand scale. I'm not about to compete with any of my label partners that I love working with, rather MelodicRockRecords will simply be a small exclusive independent label that will handle whatever artists I come across and believe in, who want to like what I do and who perhaps (for whatever reason), didn't secure a deal with a bigger label. What is guaranteed though, is maximum exposure here (as I wouldn't work with anyone I didn't 100% believe in) and the ability for fans to purchase these releases direct from me and via a few of the known specialist melodic rock retailers.

I'm continuing to build the concept of the label and what exactly I might be able to accomplish and of course...looking for the right artist/albums to work with! I won't be signing a ton of bands or releasing a record every month. Just a few quality releases throughout the year. Details of MRR001 will be announced next month. I think you're gonna love this guitar driven melodic rock band! Might be another surprise coming also…

Again...any further info required, e-mail now:

Good luck Andrew, the site has always been a great read each day! Here's to the new label too!

Frontiers Records announces the release of  TERRA NOVA new studio album
Napoli, May, 2010 – Dutch Melodic Rockers TERRA NOVA will release their anticipated new album “Come Alive” on July 2nd in Europe and July 27th in the USA. “Come Alive” is the band’s 5th original studio album and their first full length release over the last five years.

TERRA NOVA started the work for the recording of the new album in 2008. Their vision was to go back and recreate the exciting sound of their debut album “Livin’ It Up”, a milestone record which captured the sheer joie de vivre of the eighties AOR and melodic rock and catapulted TERRA NOVA into the vanguard of the genre, both in Europe and Japan.

With this in mind TERRA NOVA reunited in the original line-up with Fred Hendrix on lead vocals and guitar, Ron Hendrix on keyboards, Gesuino Derosas on lead guitars, Lars Beuving on drums and the additional musician Eric Coenen (who played on the band’s third and fourth record) on bass guitar.

"The new songs are very much in the line of "Livin' It Up", states Fred Hendrix, “fresh and pumping, but with a little blink to the modern sound and styles. Our aim was to please our earliest fans but also the new generation of Melodic Rock fans and we have tried to combine old and new styles and sounds. This album was a real joy to record with all the original members of our first album!”

TERRA NOVA debuted in 1996 with the amazing ‘Livin’ It Up’, a record that marked the end of a long musical era for the two Hendrix brothers, the band’s founding members. No second album syndrome caught TERRA NOVA and ‘Break Away’ was released in 1997 to major critical acclaim and even bigger success in Japan, leading to a major tour of the Far East in 1998. At the end of 1999, after the release of their third album, ‘Make My Day’, persistent problems with their Dutch record company saw the band reach the end of their patience and the end of the road.

Six years after, Frontiers Records pulled Fred Hendrix away from his solo projects and commissioned a new album. For the thousands of fans who remembered TERRA NOVA’s three nineties’ releases this was truly something to celebrate and the come-back album “Escape” was received warmly by the critics and fans.

“Come Alive” is now set to restore the faith in true Melodic Rock ! Don’t miss one of the highlights of the season.
“Come Alive” tracklisting includes:
Come Alive; Fighting Yourself; Holy Grail; Here Comes The Night; Those Eyes; Under Pressure; Do Or Die; Who Can You Count On; My Own Way; The Final Curtain.
Check out TERRA NOVA and / or the Frontiers Records website for tour news which we are planned for the end of this year.

Anvil - Bless 'em - on target to now be bigger than they ever were before!

Yes, it seems that hot on the tail of the success of their 'touching' Story of Anvil film / rockumentary, the Canadian band Anvil seem to be getting offered the opportunity to play more and more live dates around the world.
Check out these tour dates ..., unreal!

Interesting one here .... Fuse ... Read on

OK, I have to say, this band Fuse really isn't rock as such, but I'm giving it inclusion for 2 reasons, the Francis Rossi / Status Quo connection as well as a certain amount of curiousity!

(Fuse - Debut album)

FUSE are virtuoso musicians Linzi Stoppard and Ben Lee who, on their eponymous debut album, harness their bespoke signature Bridge electric violins and take Rock tracks that people love and radically but lovingly reinterpret them. They played at Status Quo's 'Pictures' launch party at Bonham's in November 2008.

The album, which includes a version of 'Down Down' featuring a guest appearance on guitar by Francis Rossi, is out on May 24th.

Uriah Heep – Celebration 40th Anniversary ‘Best of’ CD review

Uriah Heep – Celebration 40th Anniversary ‘Best of’ CD review

About 2 years back Uriah Heep released ‘Wake the Sleeper’ their first new studio album in 10 years, since ‘98’s 'Sonic Origami.'
'Wake The Sleeper,' without doubt was an absolutely stunning return to the studio for Mick Box and his band of merry musicians!

So here we are 2 years on and what is 'Celebration,' the latest official release from the band?
It’s an official 40th Anniversary celebration of Heep’s history, but it’s more than just another ‘Best of.’ Indeed, the bands current line up, for the most part has been the same band since 1987 with just one exception. Long time member, drummer Lee Kerslake had to call quits on his playing - due to health reasons – in 2007 and was replaced by the extremely impressive Russell Gilbrook and they’ve re-recorded everything here, 12 classic Heep tracks and 2 new ones. If you were at all doubtful about this, you needn’t be!
2010's Uriah Heep line up is, Mick Box, Trevor Bolder, Bernie Shaw, Phil Lanzon and Russell Gilbrook.
(Uriah Heep - 2010)

In 'Celebration,' the band has really breathed new life into this re-recorded classic material in the studio, after presenting it live, night after night, so they’ve had plenty of ‘warm up’ time live on stage before making this ‘new’ album of classics, plus 2 additional pieces of new material.

Opener ‘We’re Only Human’ is the first of the new material tunes and it’s of the same great quality Heep provided on 2007’s ‘Wake the Sleeper.’ Loads of Hammond organ, strong guitars, great drums, great vocals, killer hookline and chorus, quite the opener!

‘Bird of Prey’ (from the 'Salisbury' album) redone here, brings a smile to my face as to a degree it reminds me here and there of the (Equally) old Focus tune ‘Hocus Pocus,’ but the tune is still very strong in Heep’s own unique style and it sounds current ala their more recent material.

Then ‘Sunrise’ (Magician’s Birthday) next is a more laid back starter, before picking up a little and one of Heep absolute strengths is their vocal talents throughout the release and when you listen to these tracks today redone, you wonder why they never broke through bigger than they ever did back in the 70’s. That’s said of course the fact that the majority of these tracks have been re-recorded with a different band from each of their original appearances and what a really strong band it is today too.

‘Stealin’ sounds so good here and again, the levels on everything on this album are all just right, which just makes to enhance the listening pleasure. Bernie Shaw fails to include the ‘dirty’ inclusion of ‘Ha, ha,’ after the smutty tongue firmly in cheek line of, ‘I done the rancher’s daughter and I sure did hurt his pride.’ Ah well …

Second new song ‘Corridor’s of Madness,’ to be honest fit’s in like a true classic Heep song, with the structure being very traditional if you ask me. Nice solo toward the end from Mick Box that sadly is faded out way too soon!
‘Between Two Worlds’ I was thinking to myself, hold on, this track’s not that old, why redo it and then I realized that its origin was actually 1998, so OK and yeah, I do really like the track so go ahead guys! It’s great!

If you’re a Heep fan of old that was stuck with the Dave Byron version, seriously, give the guys another shot, the current incarnation of the band can sound so fresh, yet true to their roots that it’s phenomenal and I think that in years to come – if you don’t get into now. – you then discover it, you’d probably kick yourself for missing out!
I can’t believe ‘The Wizard’ was really originally from 1972, although perhaps maybe the most dated sounding song amongst the set, but still classic Heep and a beauty!

‘Free Me’ (Innocent Victim) literally could be a Gospel song and a nice laid back track, that in fact was a No.1 hit single in New Zealand back in the day, but still stands as a good song today.
Then ‘Free and Easy’ from the same original album is a different bag altogether, same big vocals / choruses, but a true rocker of a track, with Mick Box and Phil Lanzon playing guitars and keys off one another. Go guys!

‘Gypsy’ of course is many a Heep fan’s favorite (from ‘Very ‘eavy, Very ‘umble.') and is everything you expect it to be, rough edged vocals, big Hammond organ, rocking guitars and it’s Heep through and through, fresh up to date!

In ‘Look at Yourself,’ it’s great classic rockin’ stuff in true, what we used to call ‘Contemporary Rock’ style of the 70’s and it’s got everything here, but ultimately it sounds better today than ever! Bernie Shaw couldn’t possibly have given anymore than he does here. It’s great!
You know full well, you simply couldn’t have a Best of Uriah Heep without the next track. ‘July Morning’ is a staple in any Heep set, live or compilation set and this is no exception. Heep’s soundtrack song? Who knows, after all we all have our own personal favorites right?!

Probably the first Heep song from the 70’s that sticks in my memory more than any other is ‘Easy Livin’.’ I truly love this song and this version is stronger than ever and is just pure magic here.
The album is closed by ‘Lady in Black,’ again these really are all classic Heep songs if you ask me. Could this have been a double release? Sure and I’m certain others will say why didn’t they include this or that song and it’s true, but these really are 14 great tracks. No disappointment from me here with what’s presented.

Well, maybe one … As it’s a promo copy of the ‘Celebration’ release this didn’t come with the live at Sweden Rock festival DVD that should be with your copy when you buy this album. Would’ve loved that here, but that would be like getting my cake and eating I guess!
Ah well, a very nice album to celebrate 40 years of Heep and I strongly recommend it!
Rating: 4 out of 5.

More tributes to Ronnie James Dio

(Ronnie James Dio a nice memory with a smile - At the movies supporting his friend Jack Black)

Ritchie Blackmore, who started Rainbow after Deep Purple alongside Ronnie, had this to say through his site:
"Ronnie had a unique and wonderful voice. He will be sadly missed in the rock and roll world."- Ritchie Blackmore - http://www.blackmoresnight.com/index2.htm

It seems even Ozzy Osbourne has added to paying tribute to Ronnie, Ozzy had this to say:
“I was very saddened to hear of the passing of Ronnie James Dio. Metal has truly lost one of its greatest voices.
“My heart goes out to his family and to his many fans. Love and respect.”
Posted at Classic Rock Magazine here, along with many more name tributes:

Geezer Butler who had remained close with Ronnie James Dio in Heaven & Hell had simply said this of his former band mate on the day he passed:
"GOODBYE MY DEAR FRIEND." He then added a further statement on Ronnie on Tuesday 18th May which goes into a lot of detail, on the last days of Ronnie, which must have been incredibly hard to address.
It's really moving I must say. You can read it here:

Likewise Tony Iommi who stuck with Ronnie and Geezer in Heaven & Hell had this to say:
"Yesterday, 16th May, my dear, dear friend Ronnie James Dio passed away at 7.45 a.m. L.A. time. I've been in total shock; I just can't believe he's gone.
"Ronnie was one of the nicest people you could ever meet. We had some fantastic times together. Ronnie loved what he did, making music and performing onstage. He loved his fans so much. He was a kind man and would put himself out to help others.
"I can honestly say it's truly been an honor to play at his side for all these years. His music will live on forever.
"Our thoughts are with [Dio's wife/manager] Wendy Dio, who stood by Ronnie until the end. He loved her very much. The man with the magic voice is a star amongst stars, a true professional.
"I'll miss you so much, my dear friend."

It's still very much of a shock to many, but this was an interesting piece to come from everything being mentioned.
Van Halen's News Desk site added a surprise in just making public this early footage of Van Halen playing, possibly Ronnie's best know Rainbow song 'Man on the Silver Mountain."

I'm sure the tributes will continue to pour in.

Ronnie James Dio RIP

(Ronnie James Dio - from backstage at the UK's Download festival)

So many people have been stunned by yesterday's announcement by Ronnie James Dio soul mate, Wendy Dio, on his passing.
Many had thought he was on the mend, but cancer is such an evil and callous disease, that we should all be trying to do what we can to 'Find a cure' or 'Search for a cure.'
I seriously don't believe I know a single individual, who has not in some way or another been affected by this evil and wicked illness, either in the loss of a family member, close friend, work mate or just someone you knew ...
Maybe you also know people who've fought it like Ronnie and thought they were over it and then it seems to come back twice as strong to destroy peoples dreams and prayers.
It's one of those things that often makes people question their faith when they lose someone they love, but don't worry I'm not about to go on a mission with that line, it's just something that sometimes makes us ask the question why ...?

My wife Rhonda and I were been stunned and deeply saddened yesterday and last night we lit a candle, raised glass to Ronnie and watched the Dio concert video 'Sacred Heart,' where you'll see Ronnie and band at their absolute best and as Ronnie always appeared on stage, like a little boy in a toy store.
On stage, in front of so many fans was where you saw the true Ronnie James Dio, giving his absolute all for the crowd. It's always been like every night, he was playing in his home town!
I guess I could be forgiven for thinking that, the many times I saw him play in Portsmouth, Hampshire, England, my home town, as Ronnie was actually born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, USA!
Perhaps he did feel something when he played there as it was always so special.

As I posted yesterday, I was fortunate to have enjoyed my late teens listening to Ronnie singing with Rainbow, alas that was one band I didn't see him fronting live and had hoped Ritchie Blackmore would've one day agreed to do it one more time with Ronnie. We now know sadly, that will never happen.
I did see Ronnie with Black Sabbath as he had just joined them and for me, it was the best Black Sabbath, it was very different from the Ozzy years, if we're honest with ourselves.
I saw both those first two tours he did with Sabbath and then with his own band Dio. What a showman, what class personified!
Since I moved to the US, I've also seen Dio with his own band playing live on a few occasions and again, just great!
Then I caught the Heaven and Hell line up and I don't mean to take anything away from Tony, Geezer or Vinnie, but it really was Ronnie that made it so special, without doubt.
So now he's left us, not through choice for sure and although it's a very sad time right now, it gives people the chance to recollect, that special time that they met Ronnie or saw him in front of one of those now classic bands.
With Ronnie James Dio it was always 'Magica' as his 2000 album was titled and his memory will certainly live on on as he sung, 'Long Live Rock 'n' Roll!' Ronnie you will never be replaced and you will never be forgotten.
Wendy - to you and all your family, God bless you all, the prayers of my dear wife Rhonda and I are with you.
Alun Williams - Chambers of Rock
RIP Ronnie James Dio - 1942 to 2010

FOGHAT RETURN TO THEIR BLUES ROOTS ON ‘LAST TRAIN HOME’ DUE JUNE 15TH, 2010

Foghat is often linked to the classic rock genre, due to such anthems as “Slow Ride” and “Fool for the City,” but the band has always had their roots in vintage blues.
So it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise to longtime fans that Foghat has reconnected with the blues on their latest release, ‘Last Train Home.’

Recorded both in New York at EKO Studios and at Foghat’s own studio, Boogie Motel South, the album combines covers of such blues classics as “So Many Roads, So Many Trains” and “Shake Your Money Maker,” as well as a few new originals.

The group’s blues roots can be traced back to the pre-Foghat band, Savoy Brown, as well as Foghat’s first hit single - the classic cover of Willie Dixon’s “I Just Want To Make Love To You.”
But perhaps the most obvious connection was a star-studded concert the band organized in 1977 at the Palladium in New York, when they hosted a benefit to start a Blues Archive at the New York Public Library.

Foghat was the house band at the show, as many bona fide blues legends joined them on stage - including Muddy Waters , John Lee Hooker, Johnny Winter, Pinetop Perkins, Paul Butterfield, Honey Boy Edwards, Otis Blackwell, and Eddie ‘Bluesman’ Kirkland (the latter of which recently reconnected with the band, and led to his inclusion on ‘Last Train Home’).

‘Last Train Home’ sees Foghat’s line-up - Roger Earl (drums), Charlie Huhn (vocals/rhythm & lead guitar), and Bryan Bassett (lead & slide guitar) - joined by several special guests, including Kirkland, harmonica player Lefty “Sugar Lips” Lefkowitz, and Earl’s brother, Colin Earl, on piano. Due to a prior commitment for the band’s bassist, Craig MacGregor, former Foghat/Savoy Brown/Outlaws bassist Jeff Howell filled in for the recording.

Additionally, another of the bands recent endeavors has been the creation of their own wine label Foghat Cellars. Their first wine was a 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon, and they will be releasing their 2008 Chardonnay this summer. More info can be found at http://www.foghatcellars.com/
One mustn’t forget their roots, and Foghat once more reminds us that it’s the blues that just about every rock n’ roll style is built upon - as evidenced throughout ‘‘Last Train Home’.’

Complete track list for ‘Last Train Home’:
Born for the Road – Earl, Bassett, Huhn
Needle & Spoon – Chris Youlden
So Many Roads, So Many Trains – Otis Rush

JASON BONHAM'S LED ZEPPELIN EXPERIENCE:
ONCE-IN A-LIFETIME LIVE EXPERIENCE TO COMMEMORATE THE 30th ANNIVERSARY OF THE PASSING OF A ROCK & ROLL LEGEND
LIMITED ENGAGEMENT OF 30 CONCERT DATES IN NORTH AMERICA SET FOR FALL

JASON BONHAM’S LED ZEPPELIN EXPERIENCE will celebrate the life and music of his father--the legendary Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham--in true epic fashion with a limited engagement of 30 concert dates in North America this fall.
"This is a personal trip through my life with the music of Led Zeppelin,” explains JASON, "and how the music influenced me."

JASON played with Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones at Led Zeppelin's "final" show at London's O2 Arena in 2007, which was heralded as the most powerful Led Zeppelin performance since the group’s disbandment. The band received uniformly rave reviews and JASON didn’t want to stop after that magical and memorable night.

"When I was offered to put this together over a year ago, it wasn’t right,” notes JASON. “This September 25th is the 30th anniversary of my father's passing--I thought, what better way to celebrate his life than to do 30 shows for the 30 years he's been gone?"

BONHAM has partnered with Annerin Productions--the critically acclaimed producers of "The Pink Floyd Experience" and "Rain, A Tribute to the Beatles"-- to create a once-in-a-lifetime concert. As BONHAM and his band rock through Led Zeppelin's hallowed catalog, a state-of-the-art sound system and light show will enhance their live performance onstage. Behind them, giant screens will display futuristic art and mood-setting home movies and photos. All this will take you though a personal journey into JASON’s past and put you at the center of this multimedia event.
After Jason saw "Rain, A Tribute to the Beatles" he put together his own show with himself in his father's coveted seat behind the kit.
"I loved ‘Rain’ and its take on The Beatles,” notes JASON. “The way they used a timeline and news reel to create a mood, and crafted set changes throughout, it was stunning.”

JASON BONHAM’S LED ZEPPELIN EXPERIENCE will offer an epic and intimate evening--an unforgettable night of rock 'n' roll.

“I remember when I went to see Led Zeppelin live in 1979 at Knebworth, there were certain songs that stood out to me and will stay with me forever,” JASON recalls. “I will also share other big moments in my life, time with my Dad and my relationship with the band. The show is far from being ‘just another tribute band.’ I want to make the show as personal as I can and show how much Led Zeppelin means to me."

Look for more information, tour dates and band members to be announced soon.

BRET MICHAELS TO MAKE HIS FIRST CONCERT RETURN FRIDAY MAY 28th IN BILOXI, MS AT HARD ROCK LIVE
Bret Michaels, who suffered a subarachnoid brain hemorrhage on April 22, just 10 days after an emergency appendectomy in San Antonio, Texas while on his 'Custom Built Tour,' is planning on making his return to live performances Friday May 28, Memorial Day Weekend, at Hard Rock Live in Biloxi, Mississippi.
This hard-rocking venue has hosted such acts as Kid Rock, Three Doors Down, Stevie Nicks and Daughtry.

Michaels, who has been rehabbing since his release from ICU, has increased his rehabilitation sessions to twice a day to prepare for his comeback on Friday May 28th at the Hard Rock in Biloxi, Mississippi and to continue on all of his solo dates as well as kicking off a tour with Lynyrd Skynyrd which begins June 10 in West Palm Beach, Florida at the Cruzan Amphitheater. 'We have been overwhelmed with well wishes and offers that continue to pour in for Bret. And promoters have really stepped up to the plate to reschedule dates he missed. Which is a testament to Bret's great live performances and friendships he has built over the years,' states Brian Ahern from William Morris Endeavor Agency (WME).

The singer plans to remain on tour throughout the fall and early winter, with dates scheduled through December. Dates that were postponed due to the singer's medical emergencies are currently being rescheduled.

Michaels, who continues to be a strong competitor on NBC's Celebrity Apprentice Sunday nights, is hoping to be able to return to New York, along with the rest of the cast, for the finale on Sunday May 23rd. Donald Trump says 'We really hope that Bret is well and able to join us at the finale as Apprentice has hit some of its highest ratings ever and I have much respect as he is a fighter and strong competitor.' Michaels will be making his first televised appearance since being hospitalized on The Oprah Winfrey Show to air Wednesday May 19. His upcoming album Custom Built, featuring the hit song "Nothing to Lose" with Miley Cyrus, a remake of the Sublime song "What I Got," as well as a rock and country remake of his hit song Every Rose Has It's Thorn featuring other artist such as Jay Demarcus of Rascal Flatts, Brad Arnold of Three Doors Down, Chris Cagle and Mark Wills just to name a few.
Custom Built is set to hit stores June 8.
