UFO'S PAUL RAYMOND - NEW SOLO ALBUM RELEASE

NEW SOLO ALBUM RELEASE
‘TERMS & CONDITIONS APPLY’
January 28 (Hear No Evil/Cherry Red Records)

Paul Raymond, songwriter, keyboardist and rhythm guitarist of legendary cult hard rock outfit UFO has inked a deal with Cherry Red Records' new hard rock imprint label Hear No Evil for his new solo album with The Paul Raymond Project.

The new album, entitled "Terms & Conditions Apply" is set for a worldwide release on January 28, 2013.   It will mark the sixth release by the group and features a guest appearance from Michael Schenker (MSG, UFO, Scorpions) on a cover of ‘Reach Out (I’ll Be There)’ and by Reuben Archer (Stampede, Wild Horses, Lionheart, Lautrec) on ‘Love Is Blind'.

Paul Raymond is set to play some select regional solo UK shows to promote “Terms & Conditions Apply” in the New Year, including a special headline launch show at London’s Borderline venue on Friday 1st February, before resuming his duties touring with UFO.  The shows will feature Stampede vocalist Reuben Archer amongst other special guests and will showcase the new material as well as UFO classics. Regional dates are yet TBA.

Paul Raymond is primarily best known for his work in UFO, having joined the band’s ranks in 1976. Beginning with “Lights Out” in 1977, to date Paul has appeared on 11 UFO albums, including the incendiary double live “Strangers In the Night”.  In a varied career, he’s also been a key member in a number of acts, including 70s legends Savoy Brown, Chicken Shack, Michael Schenker Group and Waysted.

The Paul Raymond Project (PRP) was first formed in 1989 in Japan featuring original lineup of Frank Di Mino (formerly of Angel) on lead vocals and Masoyoshi Yamashitu (Loudness) on bass.  Paul spent 1990 writing new material, inspired by the resurgence of straight-ahead blues/rock led by bands such as the Black Crowes and the Quireboys, until, joined by guitarist Andy Simmons, the third incarnation of the project released “Man on a Mission” through Zoom Club records.  It was to be nine years before Paul and Andy joined forces again and recorded “Virtual Insanity” as UFO had once again intervened.

In 2010, together with bass player Mark Coles and drummer Tony Steel, they began working on “Terms & Conditions Apply”.

Escape Music is proud to announce the release of
EDGE – Heaven Knows.

Featuring Tobias Andersson (Shadowland, Seven Wishes) & Tommy Denander – guitar solo on “How Long”.

EDGE is an exciting new AOR/Melodic Rock band from Karlskoga, SWEDEN. They started out as a project by 2 friends sharing the same dream. Having played together in different bands off and on since the mid nineties, Jonas Forss and Tobias Andersson (Shadowland, Seven Wishes) knew each other by heart. Strangely enough they hadn't written any original tunes together before, even though they had recorded dozens of covers in different shapes and forms.

About 2 years ago Jonas came to Tobias house with an idea for a song and the rest as they say is history. “We found our sound almost immediately. It was as we hadn't done anything else but writing songs together. It all felt very natural, as it was meant to be…”
They both agreed upon writing an album without compromise. No account to what others might think, just the album they both wanted to hear; melodic, interesting harmonies, variation, power and depth. The songs should mean something and speak for themselves.

Their own brand of melodic hard rock derives from lots of different influences ranging from classical music to metal and beyond. "We always loved music where real musicians actually play for the song and not for themselves if you know what I mean”, Jonas states. “Yeah, but that doesn't mean that we don't shred from time to time”, Tobias adds, “but always within the context of the song of course ;-)”
The two guys recorded 12 songs on their own but felt there was something missing, that extra ingredient to take it over the cliff so to speak: Musicians!!!
They knew exactly who to call. Torbjörn Brogren (Heads or Tales) and Olle Rodehn (Shadowland) both accepted with a smile and contributed a great deal to the final sound of the album. They added the extra depth and live-feeling we needed so we decided to re-record everything and EDGE, the band was born.

Soon after they finished up in the studio they started pitching for a record deal. “It all happened very fast. We sent 1 song to 5 different labels and 4 of them wanted to sign us right away which felt very good indeed. Escape Music in England pulled the longest straw because of their genuine interest in our music and passion to the industry as a whole.”

Heaven Knows is the title of their debut album, and What A Way To Start the New Year 2013!

Album tracklist:

1- Little Girl
2- How Long
3- Nowhere to Hide
4- Get Over it
5- I Believe In Love
6- There Is No Other Way
7- I Could Never Live
8- Right Now
9- To Hell And Back
10- Through That Door
11- The End Of The World

MVD Re-locates for 2013
After nearly 25 years of renting, MVD is purchasing a 30,000 sq.ft.
warehouse / office facility.

Their new address as of January 1st 2013 is:

MVD Entertainment Group
203 Windsor Rd
Pottstown PA 19464

After 24 years of renting warehouse space in Southeastern Pennsylvania, MVD Entertainment Group has purchased their own headquarters. The building, located at 203 Windsor Road in Pottstown, PA is a significant upgrade in terms of space and quality of building.

"We are fortunate that business has remained very good for us overall. With the real estate market being so soft we were able to take advantage and make a big step", said Ed Seaman, COO of MVD. "It's an exciting time to be in the music and video business. While there is a lot of change in the marketplace, we are confident that physical goods remain relevant, particularly for collectors, for a long time. And our Digital business grows incrementally each year. It feels good to be investing in ourselves and our future. And it will be nice to work in a building with windows after being in a cave for the last few decades!"

This move marks the official 25 year anniversary of MVD's incorporation. MVD Entertainment Group, solely owned by the Seaman family, is preparing for festivities later in 2013.

"The music and video business has made major recoveries in the area of physical goods," said Tom Seaman, CEO of MVD. "We are delighted to be able to upgrade our ability to turn our merchandise around in a more effective manner."

MVD Entertainment Group (previously known as Music Video Distributors, Inc) was founded in 1986 by Tom Seaman, an industry veteran of more than 40 years, whose background includes retailing stints with Record Hunter, Sam Goody, Musicland, CBS Retail, and wholesale experience with Jem Records.
MVD initially acted primarily as a one-stop, buying all labels' music-related VHS releases and reselling to music and video stores.

The DVD era brought about a significant shift in MVD's core business.  MVD called upon its strong relationships with content holders, labels, artists, and management to become a world leader in music DVD.  Shortly thereafter,  MVD broadened its DVD reach to include films, TV series, documentaries, and a wide scope of non-music related programming.

In 2006, MVD expanded further and launched an audio CD division based on its strong relationships with suppliers and customers, and by 2008 merged with Big Daddy Music Distribution to become a force in audio Distribution

Today, MVD is a full service audio and video distributor, representing DVD, Bluray, CD, vinyl and even collectible figures and merchandise.  Further, MVD represents the vast majority of its content digitally on both audio and visual formats.

Legendary Guitarist ULI JON ROTH to Embark On 40th Anniversary North American Tour

German guitar legend ULI JON ROTH will be returning to North America for a special tour commemorating his 40th anniversary of joining THE SCORPIONS.

ULI plans on celebrating this anniversary with a one of a kind show that features an entire set of SCORPIONS material as well as selections from his extensive solo catalog.
Every show on the tour will be recorded for a live album documenting this amazing milestone in ULI's career.

The tour is currently scheduled to kick off January 25th in Los Angeles, CA and runs through March 3rd in Los Angeles. More dates will be added in the coming days. Stay tuned to http://www.ulijonroth.com for the most up to date schedule.

ULI is looking forward to presenting this historical show to his North American fans:

"Celebrating my 40th anniversary of joining the band, we will play a full set of SCORPIONS songs alongside my more recent material. We will feature several songs from each of the albums that I played on, including some, which have not been played live before. I'm really looking forward to it. Hope to see you there!"

Because of his ground-breaking, highly innovative and distinctive trademark guitar work, ULI is widely regarded as being one of the greatest guitarists of all time.

As one of the main founding members of THE SCORPIONS, ULI wrote much of the material for the bands - by now legendary - first five albums, which include the hugely successful live album "Tokyo Tapes".
These early SCORPIONS years with ULI, Klaus Meine and Rudolf Schenker as the nucleus, were absolutely essential in shaping what is now considered the classic SCORPIONS sound.

ULI is regarded as a significant influence by many notable guitar players, including, but not limited to Slash, Eddie Van Halen Joe Satriani, Kirk Hammett, Steve Vai and Yngwie Malmsteen.
Having collaborated and shared the stage with the likes of The Smashing Pumpkins, Deep Purple, Brian May, Jack Bruce, UFO, and many others, ULI continues to inspire and pave the way for musicians and fans alike.

After his departure from THE SCORPIONS, ULI JON ROTH embarked on a successful career as a solo artist, producing highly influential albums with his band Electric Sun, as well as performing classical concertos with orchestras.

ULI also invented his own instrument the legendary 6-octave Sky Guitar, which is currently on the market as a limited Edition signature model.

In addition to his 40th Anniversary shows, ULI will also be offering his world renowned Sky Academy Seminars while he is on the road in North America. These introductory seminars are not just aimed at guitarists, but fans and even non-musicians may well find plenty to gain from Uli's unique way of talking about some of the deeper mysteries of music.
For some people Sky Academy has even been a life-changing experience, because ULI's teaching can open up completely new ways of experiencing music.

The aim of Sky Academy is to provide knowledge and inspiration to those who take guitar playing seriously and to help them reach a new plateau. The seminars are designed to open musicians' eyes to new possibilities and to trigger an awakening of the student's full potential and talent. Special emphasis is given to inspirational concepts rather than just technical means. Sky Academy is designed to teach particularly those things which are not normally touched upon in music teaching, but which provide a true gateway to mastery.

Tickets for the introductory seminars are available through the individual venues and can also be purchased at http://www.sky-academy-registration.com/.

SANDY SLEDGE & LEATHER LEONE WRITING NEW MATERIAL FOR SECOND FULL-LENGTH RELEASE!!!!

November, 2012 Los Angeles/ San Francisco based Sledge Leather have begun writing material for their second full-length release, scheduled for 2013.    Leather Leone and Sandy Sledge have already written four new tracks out of the nine new songs scheduled for the “untitled” concept release.

To expedite releasing new material, Sledge Leather started a Kickstarter fundraiser campaign on November 6th to help complete production for the release.  The campaign will run through December 18th and offers fans an opportunity to purchase some great items.  Some pledges include classic releases long out of print, new material, and Leather’s classic leather jacket dating back to the Rude Girl and her time before Chastain.  The Kickstarter campaign can be found here:

Sledge Leather was embraced by media and radio contacts everywhere with impressive sales for “Imagine Me Alive” CD and DVD releases.   The Sledge Leather debut engulfs the listener in an onslaught of heavy metal that resurrects a classic HEAVY metal sound with Dio's former band members Scott Warren (keyboards), and Jimmy Bain (bass), who both return for the new release.

Before “Imagine Me Alive” it had been more than two decades since we embraced new material from  Leather Leone (Chastain, Rude Girl, Malibu Barbi) and drummer Sandy Sledge (Rude Girl, Malibu Barbi, Warbride) in their new project Sledge Leather.

Sledge explains “Imagine Me Alive shows the different ways that Leather’s voice can create music.” Leather adds, “This new record will kick that in the a** and take us further.”

Bonrud – Save Tomorrow album review

Bonrud – Save Tomorrow album review
Released on: Escape Music. Release date: Available now

‘Save Tomorrow’ is the second album from the Bonrud band, released through Escape Music led by the incredibly talented Paul Bonrud, who’s guitar playing and songwriting / arranging, production work, etc, etc all go hand in hand to create some masterful work.
The first self-titled album was released in 2004 through the Frontiers label and gained much praise, even if it did draw many comparisons to AOR greats Journey, from the artwork of that album through to the music.

I wish I could give you a little more background on the guy, but since I can’t, I really would strongly emphasize that the music really does speak very well for itself!
With an animated album cover featuring a ‘Wonder Woman’ or ‘Superwoman’ like superhero type cute looking cartoon character, flying over an animated city it could all too easily make people not take this seriously, but you should!

Ably assisted by fantastic vocalist Rick ‘Four Octave’ Forsgren and drummer Paul Higgins as the foundations here, they also have guest input on keyboards from Eric Ragno (Graham Bonnet, Jeff Scott Soto and many more!), Richard Baker (Santana, Lynch Mob, Warrant, Saga and more) and Dave Gross.
Perhaps the icing on the cake here, is that Paul and gang have captured the services of producer extraordinaire in Keith Olson (REO Speedwagon, Santana, Whitesnake, The Babys, Fleetwood Mac to name a handful!).

This really is a strong album and while I see comparisons drawn again in others reviews to Journey, I believe there is much more depth and earthiness to this release. Seriously, I can hear similar styling’s here and there to say UFO and other European hard rock acts too.

‘We Collide’ opens things with a keyboard led intro, before rocking the house in great style, Paul’s guitar work …, phenomenal, Rick’s strong vocals and powerhouse drumming from Paul Higgins and as hard rocking and edgy as it gets, there’s still the melody.
Good strong opener!

With ‘Bullet in the Back’ it’s without doubt darker and edgier still.
The solo licks throughout, kind of still throw me a little no matter how many times I’ve played this – It’s been a few too, great album! – yet the song is once again, very strong and unique.

‘American Dream’ is a good solid rocker, almost like prime time Scorpions musically, yet a very catchy AOR style chorus.
All good to me!

OK, hopefully Paul (Bonrud) doesn’t take this badly, but title track ‘Save Tomorrow’ musically is very Journey like … And I love it!
Rick Forsgren really has a great voice, it’s far from Steve Perry style and he’s not trying, why should he, his voice is unique enough.
Paul's guitar work here, is even quite like Neal Schon in style, a little different from the jority of the rest of the material.

‘Liquid Sun’ is another beauty and actually Paul’s playing at times reminds me here a little of Steve Vai but the overall composition makes me think a little of The Verve Pipe or even Collective Soul in its structure and sound and maybe they come to mind as I watched a live Collective Soul show last night, as I write this.

With ‘I’d Do Anything’ it’s very much back to the AOR styling’s you might expect to hear more of by these guys.
I love the driving Hammond organ in the pre-chorus and chorus itself and the chorus harmony vocals are really strong too.
Great track, nice one guys!

There’s a lot more of a darker edginess to ‘Last Sunrise,’ much more of a European hard rock / metal yet still melodic groove, still very enjoyable.

‘Torn Apart’ has a more pop / rock like sound … Single? Easy on the ears as an up tempo pop rock number, yet Paul still manages to squeeze in a very tasty solo.

Getting more in sync with the AOR rock groove is the mid-paced hock full of melodies. Nice!
‘Dominoes’ is an up tempo commercial rocker, the big chorus is clearly the standout here, big harmonies.

With ‘You’re The One’ it’s another good up tempo number that has a underlying riff that really reminds me of one on Tal Bachman’s ‘She’s So High,’ but the of course Rick sounds nothing like Tal and neither does the rest of the song.
It’s perhaps at times a little more like classic Bryan Adam’s the way the organ / guitar work together.

‘End of Days’ has an almost epic like feel to it, to close the album.  Great power chords kick in for the pre-chorus and chorus, whereas the verses are a little more laid back. There’s great layering to this one. I wonder how many tracks they recorded this across.
Again great vocal from Rick and Paul’s guitar work is sweet.

Overall, this album is a wonderful piece of work, great songs and great playing and Escape have clearly backed Paul with this, by pulling Keith Olsen in to ‘do the business’ to the album.
I’m guessing Paul basically did all guitar, as well as keyboards and bass on here too, so with Rick’s fantastic vocals, Paul Higgins solid drumming and fine production work from Keith Olsen, this is an album that people may not be too aware of and may not have thought to check it out, but you really should!
Nice work throughout, very recommended!
