JOURNEY TO BE HONORED AS "LEGEND OF LIVE" AT THE 2011 BILLBOARD TOURING AWARDS

Eighth Annual Billboard Touring Conference and Awards to Bring Together Today's Top Touring Industry Executives at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City on November 9-10

New York, NY (October 24, 2011) - Billboard announced today that iconic rock band Journey will receive its prestigious Legend Of Live Award at the 2011 Billboard Touring Awards presented by Showclix, set for November 10 at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City.

The Billboard Legend Of Live Award honors groups or individuals who have made significant and lasting contributions to live music and the touring business, and acknowledges the recipients' commitment to the art of performing live and reaching fans through the concert experience. Previous award recipients include Rush (2010), Ozzy Osbourne (2009), The Allman Brothers Band (2008), pioneering agent Frank Barsalona (2007), Sir Elton John (2006), Cellar Door Concerts founder Jack Boyle (2005), and promoter Michael Cohl (2004).

Journey has created some of the best-known songs in modern music, contributing to their status as one of America's most popular rock bands. They continue to tour and record into the 21st Century, and have never stopped creating vital music since their inception in 1973. The 2011 "Eclipse Tour" has been one of their most successful ever, touring the world with the lineup of Neal Schon (guitars, backing vocals), Jonathan Cain (keyboards, backing vocals), Ross Valory (bass, backing vocals), Deen Castronovo (drums, percussion, backing vocals) and Arnel Pineda (lead vocals).

Despite owning a history marked with multi-platinum albums and massive radio hits across decades, Journey remains a hugely successful touring band, having moved nearly one million tickets and averaging more than $600,000 a night at the box office.

"I'm so honored to come to New York to represent the band for all the years and dedication that everyone's given," says Neal Schon of the band being named the 2011 Legend of Live.
"Though they have sold millions of records and charted a wealth of the most beloved Billboard hits in history, most would agree that Journey's longevity has in large part been driven by their stellar live performances," says Ray Waddell, Billboard's Executive Director of Content and Programming for Touring and Live Entertainment. "From their days blowing up the Bay Area music scene, to their ascent to international headlining and, today, iconic rock status, withstanding personnel changes that would bring down a lesser band, Journey's talent transcends musical trends and draws bigger crowds year after year. In short, Journey personifies a Legend Of Live."
The Billboard Touring Awards honor the industry's top artists, venues and professionals for the year, based on actual data compiled through the Billboard Boxscore chart. This awards reception culminates the two-day Billboard Touring Conference, presented by ShowClix, taking place at Roosevelt Hotel in New York City on November 9-10. The conference unites today's top touring professionals to discuss the current state of the industry. Guided by Ray Waddell, this unique event includes provocative panels, productive roundtables and networking opportunities with touring industry power players and decision makers.

Saga news update

... And no, I'm not talking about holidays for old folks! - UK rock fans will no doubt get that one!

Canadian pompsters Saga or call them what you will, AOR Prog, Prog melodic rock, but for most it's pretty much something like that, have a news update at their website, that the now returned frontman Michael Sadler has shared with fans there.

Posted on Oct 20 2011 at http://sagaontour.moonfruit.com/#

'Okay, let’s see. What can I reveal without being too revealing?
Let’s start with the album release being pushed back to January. Both Edel and the band understand how important this album is and we all feel that we have to “get this one right” so to speak. Instead of just finishing the record to meet a deadline, the whole team felt strongly enough about what we have that a January release date was chosen. This allows everyone the chance to give the album all the support it deserves. The team at Edel have been amazing and we are extremely pleased with the partnership.
We expect only great things in the weeks/months/years to come.

A little info about the album? We will be announcing the title shortly, meanwhile, it will have 10 tracks, including a new Jim Gilmour lead vocal. These are the track titles (you may notice a familiar name in there!), although some may change by the time we go to copy.
So, in no particular order:

Another Day Out Of Sight
Anywhere You Wanna Go
Ball And Chain
Ellery
Lost For Words
One Of These Days
Show And Tell
It's Not Gone
Spin It Again
‘Till The Well Runs Dry

All the recording of the album is now essentially finished and it’s in final mix mode, which will be followed by a review by the band, mastering and then…it’s all yours! I’m sure that Edel has some sort of “special” or “deluxe” edition planned as well, including DVD footage, but I haven’t any details regarding any of that at this time.

As far as the tour goes, we will be featuring, hopefully, at least 2 songs from the new album as well as a very diverse selection of material this time around, including something we’ve put together that we are affectionately referring to as “The ¾ Medley”. Also, there may be as few as 5 or 6 Saga “standards” in the set so all of that should make for quite an entertaining evening!
And that, my friend(s), is the story so far!
Looking forward to seeing you all somewhere on tour!

Michael'
