RIP Mark Abrahamian - 1966 to 2012
Sad news regarding Starship guitarist Mark Abrahamian, who passed away suddenly from a heart attack on Sunday night, after playing a show with Survivor and Boston in Norfolk, Nebraska.
He was just 46 years old ...
He had played with the band Starship for eleven years and was much respected.
I really know little about the guy myself, even though I did see him play with the band one time, but my heart goes out to his fiancée and family members at this time.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Andrew McNiece at Melodicrock.com has paid Mark a very glowing tribute.
Well said Andrew, you put it probably better than anyone:

Geoff Tate's 'new' Queensrÿche revealed
Well, I don't know about you but is this a turn up for the books or what?
According to Geoff Tate through he and his family controlling the original Queensryche website, as well as on his Facebook page, he has a new band to present to the world as 'Queensryche!'
It seems if he can't play on with the bands original members, he's going to enlist some name players to try and make 'his' line up more successful going forward.
I say this, how long will this go on and really, what are these well respected muso's doing even getting involved in this 'battle of the band!?'
That said, I don't see any combined new band photo of Tate's claimed new lineup?
The hugely publicised split from his other old band mates of 30 years where they announced he was fired, has gone back and forth on what happened here and there and then, it was wrapped up by a judge's ridiculous court ruling that told both parties to continue, both using the same name?!
On Facebook, Tate said this on his timeline:
"Today is a new day and I am thrilled to announce the new Queensrÿche.
Joining me are: Rudy Sarzo, Bobby Blotzer, Glen Drover, Kelly Gray and Randy Gane.
Together we shall embark on a new musical journey that will be a greater extension of where Queensrÿche has ever been." - Geoff Tate
Over at the 'Tate's' Queensryche site he said this on September 1st:
Joining me are: Rudy Sarzo, Bobby Blotzer, Glen Drover, Kelly Gray and Randy Gane.
Together we shall embark on a new musical journey that will be a greater extension of where Queensrÿche has ever been." - Geoff Tate
Over at the 'Tate's' Queensryche site he said this on September 1st:
"I’m sure the last few months have been very frustrating for you.
I know they have been for me.
There are so many questions and so few answers.
I know they have been for me.
There are so many questions and so few answers.
It is said that adversity makes one stronger. Well, I’m definitely in a better place now than I’ve ever been before. I feel very positive and excited.
The challenge, when you’re in a creative environment, is keeping things fresh and invigorating, and after working with the same people for thirty years, it gets very difficult—You walk into the room, and everybody knows what everyone is going to do. There’s no spark, the chemistry is very tried and true and you just keep coming up with the same ways of expressing yourself.
Today is a new day and I am thrilled to announce the new Queensrÿche.
Joining me are: Rudy Sarzo (Whitesnake, Dio, Ozzy Osbourne), Bobby Blotzer (Ratt), Glen Drover (Megadeth, King Diamond), Kelly Gray (MYTH, Queensrÿche 1998 - 2001) and Randy Gane (MYTH, Queensrÿche, Candlebox).
Together we shall embark on a new musical journey that will be a greater extension of where Queensrÿche has ever been.
With this new project, with these new people, it’s a whole new scene. There are new ideas, different musical backgrounds and a whole new set of parameters. Everyone has ideas you haven’t heard before, and everyone is throwing them against the wall and suddenly … the music has a whole new life.
I look forward to this new life and I hope to see you on tour as all of us come together and begin this new era.
Geoff Tate"
The Union - New album in the New Year
It seems the combined forces of Ex-Thunder guitarist Luke Morley and vocalist Pete Shoulder (Winterville, 21 Guns), as The Union, have almost reached the point where they'll soon share their new third album with the rest of the world.
Ably supported by fellow ex-Thunder man Chris Childs (Bass) and Phil Martini (Joe Elliott's Down 'n' Outz) on drums, the new album follows the much praised 2010 self titled release and last years, 'Siren's Song.'
The band's newsletter has just been shared and here's the scoop.
"Hello everybody!
Our new album will be entitled ‘The World Is Yours’ and will be released February 11th 2013.
We’ve been busy working on the new material (we're delighted with the results so far) and we want to offer you all the chance get involved early by pre-ordering or making a ʻpledgeʼ on the forthcoming album. There'll also be a number of rare, signed and VIP goodies on offer so whether you fancy joining us in the studio for a day or simply to be a VIP at one of our gigs, we want you to be in the loop!
Whatever you pledge on, you’ll receive a pre-order download of the album (delivered once the album is released) plus exclusive PledgeMusic updates so you can follow our progress via video diaries, blogs, photos and maybe even the odd sneak preview of the album.
A percentage of proceeds will also go to Childline Rocks so you’ll get to feel virtuous and help a great cause at the same time! We’ll be working towards a minimum of pre-orders to make all this possible and you’ll be able to keep track of our progress with the percentage bar above. No money will be debited from your bank account until we hit 100%.
We’re really looking forward to working with the good people at PledgeMusic.
At a time when the music industry’s future is uncertain, they are enabling lots of artists to get their music out there by involving fans at an early stage of the creative process. We want you guys to get involved too because together we can help secure the future of great music!
Thanks for your continued support,
Luke & Pete."
Keep on looking and listening for more updates, oh and by the way, is it me or is Luke Morley looking more and more like Scottish comedian Billy Connolly?!
