Well, here's hoping you all had a good weekend?
Yes, I've been pretty quiet on here over the weekend I know and usually you get to see a review or two posted here and yes, I'm slacking ..., at least on the site!
It's been very much a family weekend that was really needed, but I will share this though, on Saturday morning I had a good chat with Joe Lynn Turner (Rainbow, Deep Purple, Yngwie Malmsteen), which was something else and it was not what I expected and sometimes our connection got a little muffled in places or maybe that was just Joe's Jersey accent! LOL! Sorry Joe, but there were a few moments and a few names you mentioned that I don't know if I heard them right, but ... Well, you'll get to read the interview folks - As much as I can print! - as soon as I can get to it, after typing up the Howard Leese and David Paich ones!
Anyway, aside from the busy weekend, for this week there's going to be a new giveaway in a collaboration with the fine folks at GMC http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/
GMC or GuitarMasterClass.net is a dreamworld essentially for guitarists or aspiring guitarists who are looking to learn more, start from scratch or ..., well, just go and check the site out and you'll see what I am talking about.
Yes indeed, Chambers of Rock and GuitarMasterClass.net are pleased to be able to offer, one very lucky reader of 'Chambers of Rock' a years subscription at GuitarMasterClass.net as the prize.
This is something that would normaly cost you $110 (USD) for the year, but it's coming up for grabs, right here at Chambers of Rock!
At the end of todays news, you'll find details of how to win this most likely much desired gift subscription and it will go to the first correct answer, but more details on that later.
OK, on with the news folks, have a great week, cheers, Al
More information about these dates and BLACK SABBATH´s recording and touring plans is forthcoming.
In an updated message from Bill Ward on the whole current situation, the original Black Sabbath drummer, issued this statement at his site:
Dear Sabbath Fans,
I wanted to let you know where things are at, from my point of view, as of today, February 17, 2012.
As my statement of February 2, 2012 indicated, I have not declined to participate in the Sabbath album and tour. At the earliest opportunity, I am prepared to go to the U.K. and record, and later tour with the band.
Last week, we sent further communication to the attorney handling the negotiations to try to reach an agreement. At this time we are waiting to hear back. I remain hopeful for a “signable” contract and a positive outcome.
I want to thank everyone who has voiced and posted their opinions, thoughts, support and love through all media, including the newly constructed sites. I applaud your worldwide reaction in support of the original band. And speaking for myself, your intent and truth will always be respected.
While believing in your freedom for expression, keep in mind that Tony, Ozzy and Geezer are still my lifetime friends, and I cannot support comments with an objectifying or derogatory theme toward them or their various representatives.
Many thanks to all of you. You are truly phenomenal.
Stay safe, stay strong.
– Bill Ward

Van Halen's opening night setlist shared
Well, I have to say, if you're still a Van Halen fan and have bought tickets for the current tour - It hits Detroit tonight (Monday), I won't be there ... - the live set that they opened with in Louisville, Kentucky, doesn't look half bad at all!
I understand, through www.VHND.com that this was the set played on Saturday night's opening gig of the tour:
1. You Really Got Me
2. Runnin’ With The Devil
3. She’s The Woman (NEW)
4. Romeo Delight
5. Tattoo (NEW)
6. Everybody Wants Some!!
7. Somebody Get Me A Doctor
8. China Town (NEW)
9. Mean Street

18. Outta Love Again (A First since 1979!)

Not bad I guess and of course, they'll never please everyone but there you go ...
I have finally got to hear the new album and personally, with the exception of 'Tattoo' it's not bad and sounds like classic DLR era VH, which should no doubt pleasee the majority of VH fans out there.
If you're going to see them, enjoy yourself, hopefully it hasn't broken your bank account to go!
