Brief News Update for Saturday July 21st, 2012

Hi folks, well I hope you got some kicks out of the Michael Schenker interview, even where I point out my own silly comments to Michael, that really ... Make no sense! Talk about being in the moment!
Hey, yes, I do admit my mistakes ... Wonder how many other writers might do that ...? Probably none and they are probably too straight laced and serious about things, that they'd leave something like that out.
As I typed it, reading it back, it just cracked me up that I would even ask what I did .... Ah well.
Well, have a great weekend folks, Cheers, Al

JUDAS PRIEST
SCREAMING FOR VENGEANCE SPECIAL 30TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION

Release date: Tuesday, September 4th, 2012

“One of the most important, influential and imitated bands ever…”Kerrang

A vital part of rock history - Judas Priest have spent 4 decades writing classic songs and putting on spectacular live shows. During this period, the band has sold in excess of 30 million albums, and played to countless millions of fans across the globe.  In 1982, they released their eighth studio album SCREAMING FOR VENGEANCE, containing their hugely successful You’ve Got Another Thing Coming, the single which proved that metal could get mainstream radio airplay in the US – leading the way for a whole generation of new metal bands.

To celebrate the 30 year anniversary of this epic release, Judas Priest present you with SCREAMING FOR VENGEANCE – SPECIAL 30TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION, containing not only the re-mastered original album plus bonus tracks, but also a live DVD from the 1983 US Festival show, filmed in San Bernadino CA on 29th May 1983.

The US Festival was intended to be a celebration of evolving technologies; a marriage of music, computers, television and people - organized by Steve Wozniak formerly of Apple Computer.

The SCREAMING FOR VENGEANCE – SPECIAL 30TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION Live DVD was filmed at the second, and what turned out to be last, US Festival in 1983. The Sunday was the Heavy Metal Day - "It was the day new wave died and rock n' roll took over". It set the single-day concert attendance record for the US with an estimated 375,000 people.

Judas Priest have this to say about this memorable day in metal history:

‘On the day that we performed, we flew in by helicopter - and the first sight we saw was that of thousands of abandoned cars piled up around the crests of the hills that surrounded the festival arena, which as we went over took our breath away. For there below us, spread throughout hundreds of acres was a massive crowd – over three hundred thousand strong! The summer heat was raging and combined with the hot Santa Ana winds made for a scorching metal furnace on stage.’

BIO:
Since 1974, Judas Priest has been one of heavy metal’s most successful bands, issuing such all-time classic albums as BRITISH STEEL in 1980, SCREAMING FOR VENGEANCE in 1982,  DEFENDERS OF THE FAITH in 1984 and PAINKILLER in 1990 and such arena-rocking anthems as Breaking the Law, Living After Midnight, and You’ve Got Another Thing Coming. However, Priest’s influence goes far beyond their music - they were the first metal band to embrace the ‘leather and studs look’, a fashion that has since become synonymous with the musical genre. Additionally, Rob Halford’s powerful four-and-a-half octave vocal range and the twin guitar harmonies of Glenn Tipton and K.K. Downing have been emulated by countless metal bands in Priest’s wake.

BONRUD ARE BACK TO SAVE TOMORROW

US melodic rock band Bonrud return with album number two - Save Tomorrow, set for release via Escape Music on September 21 in Europe.

Bonrud is a melodic-rock project headed by producer and multi-instrumentalist Paul Bonrud and fronted by Minneapolis' power-vocalist Rick "Four Octave" Forsgren. Established in Seattle, Bonrud's debut album was released in Europe and Japan on Frontiers Records where it received acclaim and climbed the charts, taking the song "Date With Destiny" to number 11 on the Sapporo STV Top 20 chart in Japan, staying in the top 20 for 5 weeks. The anticipated album, Save Tomorrow is the result of an impressive formation of highly experienced musicians known for their collaborative abilities, as well as the successful pairing of Paul Bonrud and legendary producer/engineer Keith Olsen.

Bonrud's new album is released under the eminent European label, Escape Music and Japan's Rubicon Music. It features twelve songs for Europe. Paul Bonrud engineered and co-produced the album with six-time Grammy winner Keith Olsen (Fleetwood Mac, Foreigner, Ozzy Osbourne, Sammy Hagar, Rick Springfield, etc.).

The songs were meticulously mixed by Keith at Pogologo Studio in California. "Bonrud has been an interesting project - As Paul and Rick have dedicated so much of their time, energy, and passion to this album, it has always been about quality of song, performance, and sound. I wish the band much success with this sophomore release," says Keith Olsen.

Paul Bonrud began working with Rick Forsgren on "Save Tomorrow" after relocating to Minnesota. The two immediately hit it off with their infectious energy and chemistry for the songwriting process. Rick's powerful vocal range paired with Paul's memorable guitar leads, allows the melodies to organically ascend.

Andrew McNeice from MelodicRock.com says, "Paul Bonrud is one of the true good guys of melodic rock. He backs up his status with talent in spades and an unwavering devotion to his craft. He works harder at getting things right than most and when new Bonrud music is ready you always know it will be well worth it."

Bonrud's new album features drums performed by Washington state's Paul Higgins and recorded at the famed London Bridge Studio in Seattle (Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains). The keyboards were performed by Richard Baker (Santana, Saga, Gary Wright), Eric Ragno (Graham Bonnet, Fergie Frederiksen, Jeff Scott Soto) and Dave Gross.
The album was mastered by Steve Hall (Alice in Chains, Madonna, Richard Marx).

"My goal was to make the best album I could with absolutely no compromises and that is exactly what I did. The songs, production, and performances are the best of my career and I can't wait for people to hear it," Paul Bonrud says of the new album.

Bonrud is:
Paul Bonrud: Guitars, Bass; Rick Forsgren: Vocals; Paul Higgins: Drums; Special guests on the Keyboards: Richard Baker (Santana, Saga, Gary Wright), Eric Ragno (Graham Bonnet, Fergie Frederiksen, Jeff Scott Soto), and Dave Gross.
